Becoming a Member

An Invitation to all Owners and those thinking of starting a Bed & Breakfast or Homestay Accommodation in the greater Kapiti/Horowhenua area,
to become a Member of our Association

@home NZ

The committee of the local BED & BREAKFAST KAPITI ASSOCIATION would like to invite you to join our group. It is our hope that tourism in the area can be encouraged, and one of the ways this can be done is to have a good number of quality B&B's and Homestays available, and to have them well marketed.

There are many attractions for visitors to Kapiti/Horowhenua, and the Rugby World Cup will be a great opportunity to have people stay over. Our organisation will be actively marketing our member B&B's for this occasion.

Only accommodation that is inspected and assessed as being up to standard can be accepted as members. If you are interested we would like present to you some good reasons why you should consider joining our organisation:

Benefits

1. You become part of New Zealand's largest national network of bed and breakfast, home and farm hosts, and you automatically become a member of the Bed & Breakfast Kapiti Association the sub group which has it's own website and meets regularly for social get-togethers and networking.

2. As the standard of the assessment regime becomes better known and recognised, membership, by displaying our logo, will ensure travellers and agents of a minimum high standard of accommodation in the homes of our members, which will become an important advertising tool, equal to or better than a Qualmark rating.

3. Members are automatically listed on the organisation's and the local website which means it is a "free" marketing site.

4. Our members can individually join TIA as affiliate members and participate in that organisation's discount buying schemes.

5. Members can participate in Bed & Breakfast Association NEW ZEALAND's own group buying schemes.

6. The organisation will assist individuals either through the regional groups or nationally when a local Councillor government agency becomes "unfriendly" to B&Bs.

7. Regular informative newsletters are sent to all members, being supplemented in some areas, by a regional newsletter as well.

8. The greater the number of members the more credibility the organisation has when making representations to the Government of the day or to other national agencies whose actions, regulations or laws impact on our individual operations. Amending the liquor licensing laws in our favour is an excellent example of the effectiveness of our lobbying, while the review of the passenger licensing regulations are the subject of current representations by the NZ association.

9. As a member of the TIA Hospitality Council, the more members we have, the greater our organisation's influence is with other accommodation provider groups.

10. Members can take advantage of the educational functions organised by our local group.

11. You get the opportunity to share problems and experiences with other hosts, participate in workshops, hear high powered speakers, and participate in the governance of the organisation, by attending the annual national conferences held in different parts of New Zealand.

12. The subscription is modest and tax deductible.

Perhaps most important of all is member networking and getting helpful information from the Association: driving traffic to your website, guest referrals to other members when a B&B is full, where to find best deals for your B&B, etc. We are all in this together and our goal is to help each other as much as possible. We look forward to having you join our group. If you have any questions, please feel free to email.
