Weather

We have a micro-climate here at the Nature Coast which ranks among the best in NZ:
often it can be sunny and warm here while windy and wet in Wellington.

Keep in mind: the seasons in New Zealand are the opposites of the seasons on the Northern hemisphere.
For example, if you’re living in the U.S.A., Canada, or the U.K.:

* When it is spring for you, it is autumn in New Zealand
* When it is summer for you, it is winter in New Zealand
* When it is autumn for you, it is spring in New Zealand
* When it is winter for you, it is summer in New Zealand

There really isn't a bad time to travel to New Zealand. New Zealand climate is very changeable and extremely mild year round. Keep in mind, though, that most Kiwi families take their main annual holidays between mid-December and the end of January. During the Easter break and school holidays in April, June to July, and September to October, it also pays to reserve well in advance.

Bringing a good quality waterproof coat, with a number of warm thinner layers, which you can add to, or take off, allows you to quickly adjust to sudden changes in climate each day.
